Tina, a young Mexican free-tail,
was con昀椀ned in a local department store. We were unsure
how long she had been trapped
inside, but the poor girl arrived
at our facility in rough shape.
She was dehydrated, emaciated,
and 昀椀lthy. Aver a few days of
suppor}ve care, Tina made a
huge comeback and quickly
gained weight. Within a few
weeks, she regained her
strength and was released to
return to her colony.

Toby, a pallid bat found in a grocery store pa}o in Midlothian, Texas, was one of
the biggest surprises this year. He arrived at our Bat World Midci}es rescue center
dehydrated, emaciated, and burdened with a dozen }cks on arrival. He was also at
least 300 miles from home, and we had no way of knowing where his colony
might be. Aver the }cks were removed, he received an}bio}cs in order to prevent
any complica}ons from the }cks. He also received small but frequent meals of
warmed, sov food to assist in the recovery of his fragile body. Toby is nonreleasable so he will receive life}me sanctuary in the care of Bat World Midci}es.
